About this webinar
Implant fracture constitutes a complex endpoint of mechanical fatigue and structural compromise within the implant–abutment–prosthesis–bone continuum. The fracture of an endosseous implant precipitates substantial biological, surgical, and prosthetic consequences, particularly in full-arch rehabilitations in which individual implants function as interdependent components of a load-bearing system. The clinical challenge extends beyond identifying and retrieving the fractured component; it requires reconstruction of the failure pathway and strategic redesign of the rehabilitation to mitigate recurrent failure. The central focus of this discussion with Dr Shankar Iyer is the clinical decision-making algorithm for fractured implant management. Treatment strategies including retrieval of fractured prosthetic components, implant removal using appropriate retrieval systems and site preservation or reconstruction where indicated have been analysed thoroughly. Advanced clinical scenarios and discussions in this webinar will adequately educate the attendees in developing a structured approach to fracture diagnosis, causal analysis, replacement planning, and secondary failure prevention. The management of fractured implants requires a definitive decisionmaking process that integrates diagnostic precision and the relative procedures of intervention. The objective of this session is to establish a defensible treatment pathway that balances procedural risks with the anticipated functional and biological outcomes.
