About this webinar
The successful management of orofacial pain begins with a perfect diagnosis! The ability to distinguish odontogenic disease from non-odontogenic pain disorders has become an essential clinical competency in recent times. Clinical evidence suggests a significant proportion of irreversible dental procedures that are structurally sound but are affected by referred, neuropathic, musculoskeletal, or centrally mediated pain conditions.
This advanced webinar explores the evolving science of orofacial pain through the lens of restorative dentistry, emphasizing evidence-based clinical reasoning, and minimally invasive decision-making. Attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of pain neurobiology including peripheral and central sensitization.
Beyond diagnosis, Dr Davis Thomas will critically examine the restorative implications of chronic pain disorders and will focus on occlusal rehabilitation in patients with temporomandibular dysfunction and the role of parafunctional loading in restorative failure. Current evidence regarding occlusal therapy, pharmacologic management and interdisciplinary care theories will be reviewed within the context of recent clinical guidelines. A combination of advancements in neuroscience with restorative principles, this webinar will enhance clinical judgment and practical tools to manage one of dentistry’s most challenging presentations with greater precision and predictability.
