Dr. Len Tolstunov is originally from Moscow, Russia. His father was a dentist and during dental school, Dr. Tolstunov decided to pursue oral surgery as a middle ground between dentistry and surgery. His passion for knowledge and education has driven him to complete all of the requirements for a dental degree both in Russia and the United States.
Over the last 20 years, he has published over 35 articles and journals, and he loves to teach at Pacific University, School of Dentistry. He is most passionate about the creative elements surrounding oral surgery, such as creating a solution to a patient’s unique condition and performing complicated procedures. Dr. Tolstunov wants patients to know that he wants to benefit their lives for the short term and in the long run. He delivers compassionate care and spends time educating patients.
Dr. Tolstunov graduated from the prestigious Moscow Dental University with Summa Cum Laude in 1985 and spent 3 years training in the emergency/trauma hospital in Moscow. He moved to San Francisco in 1989 and completed dental school at the University of Pacific Dental School in 1992. From there, he completed his residency at the University of California San Francisco and joined this practice in 1997. Dr. Tolstunov’s educational history is so unique because he has completed two dental schools and two residency programs in two countries—Russia and the United States.
